We are asking every church and every Christian in South Africa
to unite in prayer (John 17; v21- 23) in their own way, at
their own time, at their own venue and at their own convenience
to pray for our police and our land and against crime. That
the hearts of criminals will be turned away from crime or,
failing that, that God will guide the police to apprehend
them.
And
then keep praying!
... Jesus replied, "I tell you
the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, ... you can
say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea', and
it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever
you ask for in prayer." Matthew 21:21-22
"...and don't focus on the size of
the mountain; focus on the size of the Mountain Mover!"
Bill Hybels in "Too busy not to pray"
The objectives of this web site are:
1. to create a full listing of all the 'adopted' Police Stations
in the country, with details of when and where the Prayer
Groups meet etc., so interested parties can go along and join
them;
2. to act as a communications tool for groups to publicise
future planned prayer events;
3. to share ideas between groups;
4. to encourage people to adopt their local police station
and to facilitate the process.
Suggested adoption format (as implemented by the
Rondebosch, Cape Town Prayer Support Group):
The objective of a Prayer Support Group (PSG) is to cover
the adopted Police Station in prayer and to constantly hold
the station members and their families up into God's love
and protection, asking God to give them His guidance, wisdom
and courage, and His peace and compassion as they go about
their extremely stressful and often dangerous work.
However the Police are busy people, and the prayer group
didn't want to take up too much of their time and so become
a 'las'. So what has been set up is:
1. An intercessory prayer roster that has a church and at
least one school in the area praying for the Police and their
families every day of the week; the roster is displayed at
several places in the Police Station (Click
here to see their list)
2. Then once a month, at a time convenient to the Police,
the Prayer Support Group meets with them for about 20 minutes
of prayer about specific issues of concern they may have,
professional or personal, which they list for the group at
the start of the meeting.
3. The Prayer Group is led by the Pastor from one of the
churches in Rondebosch, a different Pastor each month in rotation.
The format normally consists of a Scripture reading, a very
short message related to the reading (in total perhaps 20%
of the time), with the bulk of the time being devoted to prayer,
to which everyone present contributes if they wish.
4. Then finally, an email of the prayer items is emailed
to all the supporters in the group as a prayer guide for the
coming month, because not everyone is able to attend every
meeting. Urgent concerns during the month are phoned through
by the station members to the group organiser for him to email
out to the PSG.
The result is a massive amount of supporting
prayer with minimal consumption of the station members' time.
SHARE YOUR OWN STORY ...
We are sure that the Holy Spirit will have been prompting
other people around the country to start similar initiatives.
Please email Tony Hoare at info@actionagainstcrime.org.za
with details so we can network and share ideas and, most important,
PRAY TOGETHER!
Our hope and prayer is that all of these initiatives, like
rivulets, will flow together into a mighty river of prayer
that will sweep through our land bringing Revival and an end
to crime and corruption. Then South Africa will realise her
potential and be the paradise she should be for all her peoples. |
